Mohave supervisors to discuss permitting employees to carry weapons

Allowing county employees to bring guns into the administration building goes before the county supervisors Monday.

At the March meeting, the board voted to allow Mohave County residents to bring guns into the administration building. The weapons have to be holstered or carried in containers such as purses or fanny packs. Illegal weapons are still banned from the building. The change to the policy takes effect Monday. The lifting of the weapons ban applies only to the administration building.

At the March board meeting, the supervisors postponed the second part of the issue allowing employees to bring weapons into the administration building until Monday’s meeting. Since then, Arizona Counties Insurance Pool Executive Director William Hardy warned the supervisors that if they allow employees to carry weapons to work, the ACIP would change the coverage to exclude coverage for employees.
