BULLHEAD CITY –Voters returned council members Jerry Duvall and Sheila Shutts to office, with 2,295 votes or 58.5 percent and 2,119 or 54 percent, respectively.
Although all four incumbents lead in the vote, council members Mickey McClure and Mark Clark narrowly missed the 50 percent plus 1 threshold, meaning they will face newcomers Jon Moss and Tami Ring in a May general election.

CAMP VERDE — With a 34 percent voter participation in an all-mail election Tuesday, long-time resident Charlie German came out ahead of two-term incumbent Bob Burnside in the mayor’s race.
In the unofficial count, German drew 1,031 votes, which was 55.91 percent. Burnside had 43.93 percent.

SIERRA VISTA — The unofficial results from Tuesday’s primary election shows Huachuca City Mayor Byron Robertson trailing rival Ken Taylor by nine votes.
However, there remain 10 provisional ballots and six early ballots that were turned in at the polls on the day of the election that have yet to be counted, said Juanita Murray, director of the Cochise County Elections Office, Special Districts.

PHOENIX — Phoenix voters on Tuesday joined a chorus of cities across the nation by passing reforms aimed at controlling surging employee-pension costs that are chipping away at budgets for local services.
Early returns from a special election suggested residents overwhelmingly approved Proposition 201 and Proposition 202. The measures will overhaul the retirement system for thousands of new city workers, potentially saving taxpayers nearly $600 million over 25 years.

CAREFREE — Of the seven Carefree Town Council candidates running for six seats, it was unclear if anyone was elected outright.
Carefree Mayor David Schwan, who ran unopposed, was directly elected Tuesday to his second term as mayor.
If no one wins outright, a runoff will be held in May.

CAVE CREEK — Of the 11 Cave Creek Town Council candidates running for six seats, it was unclear if anyone was elected outright.
Mayor Vincent Francia, who ran unopposed, was re-elected. This will be his eighth consecutive term and third straight time running unopposed.
With about 59 percent of the vote, residents approved renewing the town’s utility franchise with Arizona Public Service Co.

GOODYEAR — Goodyear City Council incumbents Joe Pizzillo and Wally Campbell appeared to be on their way to re-election Tuesday, and a longtime Chamber of Commerce leader was leading two other challengers in the primary, according to unofficial voting results.

MARANA — Marana voters overwhelmingly approved letting the town run its own sewer system Tuesday by about 3 to 1.
Voters appeared to have re-elected incumbents Patti Comerford, Herb Kai, Carol McGorray and Jon Post to the Town Council. All received more than 50 percent of the votes in the primary election, eliminating the need for a runoff election.

SAHUARITA — No one got the required 50 percent of the vote for one contested seat to avoid a runoff. Two incumbents – Gil Lusk and Joshua Matthews – will move on to the general election to compete for that seat. Newcomer Don Woolley has apparently been eliminated.
Duane Blumberg, Kara Egbert and Tom Murphy ran unopposed for their seats and were re-elected.

SOUTH TUCSON — Six candidates contended for three open seats on the City Council, with newcomers Vanessa Mendoza and Oscar Patino securing two of the seats by garnering more than 50 percent of the vote.
Fellow newcomer Ildefonso Green appears to have moved on to the general election for the third seat. He was easily the leading vote-getter among those who fell short of the 50 percent mark. He will be joined on the general election ballot by one of three incumbents – John Felix, who is acting mayor; Carlos Salaz; and Vice Mayor Pete Tadeo. All three were within five votes of one another for the second slot on the ballot, with a small number of votes remaining to be counted.

PRESCOTT VALLEY — With 600 ballots still waiting to be counted, it’s anyone’s guess who will gain two 4-year seats and one 2-year term on the Prescott Valley Town Council. But even if all 600 ballots go for challenger Louis Lizza, current Mayor Harvey Skoog has won another four years in the mayor’s chair.

DEWEY-HUMBOLDT — Dewey-Humboldt voters re-elected incumbent Mayor Terry Nolan with 60 percent of votes cast Tuesday evening.
The Yavapai County Elections website reports preliminary results with Nolan receiving 60 percent (485 votes), and challengers David Nystrom with 30 percent (241) and Chris Berry with 9 percent (73).
