Tweets were flying ahead of and during Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s State of the City. The mayor upped his cool factor by booking local songbird CeCe Peniston to add some flair to the event.

Mayor Stanton tweeted: “Thanks in advance to our local star @CeCe_Peniston for performing tomorrow at the State of the City! youtube.com/watch?v=xk8mm1…

And the famed “Finally” singer Peniston tweeted:I wanna thank everybody in advance for the love….have alot of great events comin up”

Phoenix policy analyst Amanda Reeve set the stage: “Full packed house at the @phxchamber‘s luncheon. Standing ovation for @MayorStanton as he prepares to give his State of the City address.”

SOFTER SIDE OF TOUGH SHERIFF

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who injured his shoulder in a fall, tweeted a picture from his hospital bed: “My wife Ava is showing her love after my fall.”

Sheriff Joe, who has since left the hospital and is doing fine, also tweeted: “During my stay here at the hospital the doctor has confirmed with me and my wife Ava, I do have a heart.”

@MikeTheSauce is a big fan of the Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix. Haters have a right to hate but I would not want to vacation with the whining author of this customer review, which was tweeted by Ben Bethel, owner of the Clarendon. Bethel tweeted a link of the guest’s petty complaints and his response (worth the read): “My response to a guest’s bad review has gone viral! Many guests I meet say they stay at The Clarendon not just… http://fb.me/FNFIUnLD”
