Party politics collided with traditionally nonpartisan municipal government last week as three Gilbert Town Council members made formal presentations to a local Republican committee, sparking discussion about privatization, lobbying and the U.S. Constitution.
Mayor John Lewis and Councilmen Victor Petersen and Jared Taylor attended the monthly meeting of the Legislative District 12 Republicans on Thursday and provided updates on the town’s budget, its ongoing Parks Master Plan and other current events.
The group, known as one of the more conservative in the state, typically meets on the second Thursday of each month in the cafeteria at Campo Verde High School, near Val Vista Drive and Germann Road.
