Carlat to explore run for Peoria mayor

Peoria Councilwoman Cathy Carlat is considering a run for mayor in 2014.

The three-term councilwoman from the city’s north side filed documentation with the City Clerk’s Office this week to form a mayoral exploratory committee.

The purpose of the committee is to determine if there is support around the city for her candidacy.

“It’s a very big decision and one I want to make sure is the right decision,” Carlat said.

Mayor Bob Barrett, whose term expires in less than two years, has reached the two-term limit for mayor in Peoria.
