UPDATE: Ariz. Senate kills recall-overhaul bill
By Mary Jo Pitzl | The Arizona Republic
Future recall elections in Arizona would feature a primary and a general election, and the recalled politician would be required to compete in both.
That’s how the Legislature envisions recall elections, starting with anyone who is subject to a recall as of January 2013.
On Tuesday, the state Senate amended a bill that changes Arizona’s recall process to require the targeted politician’s name be on both the primary and general-election ballots, even if the official loses the primary.
The fix was made to ensure the proposed new procedure is constitutional.
