Energy bills stalled in the Arizona House

AZ House Bill 2511:  Would prohibit local governments from receiving or taking part in any utility-sponsored incentive or subsidy for implantation of solar or wind energy device.

Sponsored by Rep. John Allen, the most recent action was second reading on Jan. 31, 2-13.

AZ House Bill 2584: Would permit establishment of renewable energy and conservation districts by local governments under current governmental districts law.

Sponsored by Rep. Andrew Sherwood, the most recent action was second reading Feb. 13, 2013.

AZ Senate Bill 1321: Would establish state residential energy efficiency/ building codes.

Sponsored by Sens. Gail Griffin, Judy Burgess, and Steve Farley, the bill passed the Senate on Feb. 25, 2013 on an 18-10 vote, but died in the House Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee on a 4-4 vote.

AZ Senate Concurrent Resolution 1012: Simply a declaration to Congress Arizona opposes living under EPA regional haze regulations and desires to regulate haze under state laws.

Sponsored by Sens. Gail Griffin, Judy Burgess and David Stevens, the resolution has passed the Senate and House and is back in the Senate for approval of amended version.

AZ House Bill 2334: Would remove portable electric spas and pool pumps from state energy efficiency standards and deletes such standards for those items.

Sponsored by Rep. Steve Montenegro, the measure was placed on the House consent calendar on April 8, 2013.
