The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved a settlement agreement with Marana over an ongoing wastewater dispute in a 4-1 vote Tuesday.
Marana’s Town Council still needs to approve the agreement, which allows the town to buy a sewer plant from the county for $18 million, and was poised to do so Tuesday evening.
“It’s been a long haul,” Marana council member Roxanne Ziegler told the Board of Supervisors. “I think we’re five years into it and millions of dollars.”
She said the two governments will have friendlier relations from now on.
Supervisor Richard Elías voted against the agreement, saying it’s a step away from cost-effective regional government.
