Supervisor Anthony Smith was in Arizona City last week Tuesday where he not only met with local residents during his monthly “Sessions with the Supervisor,” but also served as the guest speaker at the AC Chamber of Commerce Luncheon the same day.
Pinal County Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Anthony Smith was the guest speaker at last week’s Arizona City Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon held at Country Pride Restaurant at the TA Center on Toltec Road.
Supervisor Smith, representing District 4 which includes Arizona City and stretches from Maricopa to SaddleBrooke and the northern edge of Marana, was in town for his “Sessions with the Supervisor,” a series of monthly visits to different communities within District 4. A relatively smaller number of local residents showed up to meet with Supervisor Smith during this month’s visit, making it a bit easier for him to serve as guest speaker at the Chamber lunch.
Smith took the chance to followed up on several issues of concern brought by Arizona City residents during his previous visits.
The main concerns heard recently from Arizona City residents tend to involve code compliance issues, animal control issues, public safety and traffic related issues. Last month, Supervisor Smith announced a plan to step up traffic patrols in various areas around Arizona City in an effort to reduce speeding and bolster public safety.
Since then the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has indeed stepped up its traffic patrols in Arizona City, much to the chagrin of many local drivers. During the luncheon, Smith reported that during the first week of its increased patrols and traffic enforcement, the PCSO made 119 traffic stops, issued 48 citations, made eight arrests and impounded two vehicles.
