“I feel like I am being discriminated against, for some reason, and I don’t understand why,” Eloy business owner Larry Hill told City Council members at a special study session earlier this month.
For several months, Hill, owner of SkyDive Arizona, has spoken to both city staff and before Council trying to remedy two years of waiting to lease a commercial hangar out at the airport after being promised the space by former city manager Joe Blanton.
Hill provided Council with copies of an email correspondence between he and Blanton regarding a particular hangar that had become available in 2010. As far as the gentleman’s agreement went, as soon as the city was able to make some repairs to the hangar, Hill was free and clear to move in.
But for the last few years, not a single contractor has set foot into the structure.
