The Arizona Department of Health Services continues to approve license applications for medical marijuana dispensaries across the state, with Bloom Sky Train being the first in Phoenix to open.
So far, the state health department has approved 16 dispensaries statewide. All 16 are open, with two more scheduled to open this week.
Bloom Sky Train is at 14 S. 41st Place in Phoenix, near the new city of Phoenix Sky Train Terminal.
The shop was schedule to open Wednesday after a computer issue with the state stopped its April 20 opening. Lezli Engelking, executive director of Bloom Sky Train, said the new dispensary is creating more than 30 jobs.
Voters approved the Medical Marijuana Act in November 2010. So far, there are 38,506 medical marijuana cardholders on file with the state health department.
