Rose Law Group client BASIS Tucson North High School Ranked #2 & BASIS Scottsdale #5 in America

Scottsdale, AZ, April 23, 2013 – BASIS Tucson (now BASIS Tucson North High School) and BASIS Scottsdale are among the top five high schools in the nation according to the 2013 U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools Rankings. BASIS Tucson North, taking the #2 slot from Thomas Jefferson, has been in the top ten since it was first eligible for the ranking in 2006. This is the first year that BASIS Scottsdale has been eligible. It took the #5 slot.

BASIS Tucson North also maintained its status as the #1 charter school in America for the second year in a row. BASIS Scottsdale was #3. The two schools ranked first and second in the state of Arizona.

The CRI measures the degree to which students are exposed to and master some college-level material while in high school. U.S. News partnered with the American Institute for Research, one of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world, to analyze information from 21,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

“We take pride and pleasure in our most recent acknowledgment. It is wonderful to see in print what we have always believed to be true; our students truly are world-class and have achieved great results,” says BASIS Scottsdale Head of School Hadley Ruggles.

BASIS charter schools are open enrollment and tuition free. Students are required to take six AP exams in order to graduate. The average student takes nine and achieves a 90% pass rate. “The foundation of the BASIS model is to use a content and concept rich middle school as a substitute for selective admissions process at the high school level,” notes BASIS Co-Founder Michael Block.

“I am so proud of our students, teachers, and all of the families that support our school,” says BASIS Tucson North Head of School Julia Toews. “It is an honor to be recognized with so many other great schools, and prove, once again, that children at open- enrollment schools can excel at such great heights.”
