Two actions relating to the proposed annexation of hundreds of acres of Deep Well Ranch land and the location there of Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s north campus got the approval of the Prescott City Council this week.
In consecutive unanimous decisions, the council approved: an amendment to a 2009 pre-annexation agreement, adding about 500 more acres to the process; and a pre-development agreement setting out preliminary terms of the rezoning and development of 180 acres for YRMC’s north campus.
A city memo explains that a 2009 pre-annexation agreement laid the groundwork for future annexation into the city limits of 1,900 acres of Deep Well Ranch property located west of the airport and north of Pioneer Parkway.
City Manager Craig McConnell said this week’s action was proposed to add to the acreage of the initial agreement. “It’s a map amendment, if you will,” he said.
The amendment added 499 acres east of Highway 89 – land that McConnell said would include the 180-acre parcel for which the Deep Well Ranch and YRMC have entered into an agreement for the new campus.
