Bullhead City vice mayor plays both ends against the middle

Vice Mayor Mark Clark, running for a second term on the Bullhead City Council, acknowledged Friday he is a finalist for the Mohave County administrator position. The county Board of Supervisors has changed the position of county manager to county administrator and is looking to fill the position permanently within the next month. At a candidate forum, cosponsored by the River Valley Democratic Club and the Mohave Valley Daily News, Clark said, based on legal advice, he would not be required to step down from the council if he were offered and accepted the county position.

Clark received a variety of reactions from the other candidates. Challenger Tami Ring said, “I can’t blame him” for going for the county job, but he would “let down this community if elected” and still took the county position.

“If I was running in an election like this, I wouldn’t be applying for a job that could be a conflict of interest,” said challenger Jon Moss.

Council Member Mickey McClure said Clark would probably resign his council seat “because the county controls some funds” that go to the city, such as flood control money.
