The Arizona Corporation Commission is looking into whether smart meters designed to help people learn about their energy use pose health threats.
It can’t be too soon for Judy Staab and Warren Woodward, who both say there is evidence smart meters pose substantial health problems.
The commission is soliciting public comments during the next 30 days to see if there are compelling reasons to continue more fact gathering.
Utilities regulated by the commission, such as Arizona Public Service Co., have installed smart meters throughout their service areas to help consumers use electricity more wisely and better manage their electric bills. Staab, Woodward and others are concerned these meters emit radio frequencies that can cause health problems.
