A proposed $223.4 million budget for fiscal 2013-14 that relies on revenues that continue to exceed expectations while holding taxes steady is now before the City Council.
The plan put forth by City Manager Chris Hillman takes into account sales and property tax revenues for the coming fiscal year that are each 2 percent higher than projections, according to details outlined to council members during a City Hall workshop April 30.
“We’ve tried to be very conservative. We want to be as careful as we can,” Mr. Hillman told council members while describing the city Finance Department personnel’s revenue forecasts at the start of the current fiscal year July 1, 2012.
