Scottsdale City Treasurer David Smith has resigned effective July 5, 2013.
The notice of resignation came at the end of business Wednesday, May 9, according to an e-mail sent to the Scottsdale Independent.
Treasurer Smith says he has accomplished what he set out for during his tenure at the city of Scottsdale.
“When I accepted this position over three and half years ago, it was with the belief I could facilitate the council and citizen desire to institute a new, improved form of governance — one that would better inform the council on the financial affairs of the city and benefit the citizens of Scottsdale by exhibiting greater ‘transparency’ in decision-making,” he said in his resignation letter.
Over his time of employment, Treasurer Smith says that goal has been accomplished.
