Bisbee pastor starts recall of mayor, council

The Rev. Thomas Holley, of the First Assembly Church of God, picked up four packets earlier this week to recall the city’s mayor and three councilmen, after the approval of the controversial civil union ordinance passed June 4.

Gloria Gonzalez, city clerk, said Holley has to form a committee for each person that will be recalled and will have to state whether each committee will raise funds or agree to the $500 threshold for donations. The committee applications have to be submitted to Gonzalez before the Rev. Holley can begin collecting signatures.

“When he brings me the applications, he has 120 days to gather the necessary signatures,” Gonzalez added.

Editor’s note: The city council recently voted to approve a modified ordinance permitting gay marriage.

Further details were not immediately available.
