Town Manager Charles Montoya has received an updated employment contract and a raise after fewer than six months on the job.
The Town Council approved the new contract with no public discussion at its June 17 regular meeting. Montoya was not present.
Assistant Town Manager Jess Knudson explained afterward that Montoya and the council made the original contract with the understanding there would be a review after six months, and “the new contract is a reflection of that review period,” Knudson said.
The original contract, dated Jan. 22, provided an annual base salary of $113,000. The new contract increases the amount to $125,000 and specifies Montoya’s moving and relocation costs from Colorado — including lodging, meals and mileage, packing, moving, storage, unpacking and applicable insurance — will be paid by the town.
The contract places no limit on the amount of moving costs. The town will reimburse mileage for moving two personal cars at the current rate recognized for federal taxes
