Judge Stephen McCarville has been appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court to serve as the next presiding judge in Pinal County, effective Jan. 1, 2014. The position is a three-year term.
McCarville will replace Judge Robert Carter Olson, who leaves the presiding judge post at the end of the year, according to a press release.
McCarville received a law degree from Creighton University (Nebraska) in 1987. His law history includes stints as an attorney with McCarville, Cooper & Vasquez in Casa Grande, as town attorney for the Town of Mammoth (1990-2000) and was appointed Pro Tempore Juvenile Court Commissioner in 2000.
In 2001, he was appointed as Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore, and later that year, he was elected to his first full term as a Pinal County Superior Court judge.
McCarville is a former member of the board of directors and vice president of the Pinal-Gila County Legal Aid Board. He’s also been a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and served on the board of directors for the Casa Grande Valley Historical Society and as a member of the mayor’s Ad Hoc Committee on Downtown Development in Casa Grande.
