Plaza Companies has added nearly 900,000 square feet of medical space to its leasing portfolio in the Phoenix area.
A large portion of the portfolio is medical space on or near Scottsdale Healthcare’s hospitals that the nonprofit health system had sold to HCP Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust based in Long Beach, Calif.
That $81 million transaction last August was part of an ongoing strategy to stay focused on the hospital’s core business.
Tom Sadvary, CEO of Scottsdale Healthcare, said that the addition of the Plaza team will be helpful to the hospital system’s effort to attract and retain quality physicians in the community.
