With the opening of a Marriott Residence Inn earlier this year, Gilbert has welcomed five new hotels in the past five years, giving travelers several options in the rapidly growing town.
Before 2009, an apartment-style, extended-stay facility near the town’s northwest border with Mesa stood as Gilbert’s only hotel. Now, five conventional hotels with hundreds of rooms have sprouted across the area, catering to tourists and corporate travelers.
Gilbert’s newest hotel opened in February next to Banner Gateway Medical Center and the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center and draws much of its customer base from hospital patients. The hotel is on the west side of Higley Road south of U.S. 60.
