The City of Yuma Prosecutor’s Office has charged Sen. Don Shooter (R-Yuma), with three misdemeanor offenses for allegedly barging into a classroom and verbally threatening a teacher over a dispute involving his teenage grandson.
According to a news release issued by the city prosecutor’s office, Shooter is being charged with a count of criminal trespass, a count of disorderly conduct and a count of interference with/or disruption of an educational institution.
City prosecutor Jay Cairns did not file a charge of assault, which police had also recommended due to the teacher and students being “fearful.”
The charges stem from a March 22 incident, when Shooter went to the EOC Charter School to address “alleged bullying” of his grandson by a teacher.
