Tolleson budget will fund downtown face-lift, raises

Tolleson’s $61 million budget for fiscal 2013-14 includes a downtown face-lift, raises for city employees and other needed projects.

It also includes an increase in property-tax rates. However, Tolleson homeowners’ city property-tax bills should remain the same or fall slightly because the economic downturn has continued to lower values, city officials say.

If the budget passes, Tolleson residents will see an increase in the combined property-tax rate from $3.41 per $100 of assessed valuation to $3.76 per $100 of assessed valuation. So a home valued at $100,000 will pay a Tolleson tax of $376.
