There was a lot of give and take between the town of Florence and various employers recently at a global retail convention in Las Vegas.
Town officials gave away more than 500 copies of their new economic development brochure, in both traditional 22-page hard copies and on flash drives. Meanwhile they were also grabbing up materials displayed by employers.
The purpose was “to educate us,” Assistant Town Manager Jess Knudson said. “If we want ‘business X,’ here’s what we have to provide to attract them to the area.”
Knudson attended with Town Manager Charles Montoya and Florence Economic Development Coordinator Scott Bowles. They shared a booth with officials from Coolidge, Eloy and Casa Grande, allowing them to promote the Western Pinal region and hold down expenses, Knudson said.
The event, called RECon, bills itself as the largest event of its kind, with more than 1,000 exhibitors and 30,000 attendees. “It was a very good opportunity to get out there and put Florence on the radar for these businesses that never would have heard of Florence previously,” Knudson said.
