Brenda Fischer will finish her job as the city manager of Maricopa and is expected to start work with Glendale July 22, according to city spokeswoman Julie Frisoni.

Fischer has 20-plus years with city management.

More than 40 candidates applied for the city manager position, which was narrowed down to four and then two, including Fischer.

The other candidate dropped out, but the council still interview Fischer again.

In a statement read at Tuesday night’s meeting from Fischer, she said was excited to begin work with city of Glendale.

She replaces former City Manager Ed Beasley who retired from the city after 17 years.
