The Arizona Coyotes are here to stay. For how long, no one knows. But for at least the next five years, they’re ours.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, that Arizona Coyotes reference was not a misprint. Once Tuesday’s ownership deal is finalized the team’s name will change. The Phoenix Coyotes will be history.

So what happened Tuesday? Well, after almost four hours of confusion, inane comments and last-minute negotiations, the Glendale City Council voted 4-3 to approve an arena lease agreement with Renaissance Sports and Entertainment.

The vote was no surprise. After a few minutes of debate it was obvious who the four yes votes were and who was voting no.
