Maricopa names interim city manager

MaricopaPatricia Sorenson, who recently worked as the interim community services director for Coconino County, will begin Friday as interim city manager for City of Maricopa.

In Coconino County, Sorenson managed a department with a budget of about $8 million and was in charge of 50 full-time employees. She held the job from August to December.

Sorenson also worked for Mesa from 1999 to 2012. Her positions included assistant to the city manager, acting deputy city manager, acting housing director, acting information technology director and others.

The city will pay the firm $3,525 a week for services and $88 per hour for any additional hours not covered in the weekly services fee, according to the agreement. The city also will reimburse the firm for additional expenses such as business-related meals, copies, supplies and more

Current City Manager Brenda Fischer will finish her duties with Maricopa Thursday before taking up the city manager position in Glendale next week.
