The Pinal County Attorney’s Office will hire additional staffers, following a vote by the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday.
Despite previous approval of funding for additional positions when the 2013-14 fiscal year budget was passed June 19, Wednesday’s request passed by a narrow 3-2 vote.
Chairman Steve Miller, a Republican, and Supervisor Pete Rios, a Democrat, voted against the request from County Attorney Lando Voyles, while the board’s other three Republicans — Todd House, Anthony Smith and Cheryl Chase — voted in favor.
The board’s approval gives Voyles eight additional staff members in his office, including an administrative assistant, a principal attorney, community liaison, director, forensic interviewer, investigator and two paralegals.
