Just weeks after wrapping up his first session in the Arizona Legislature, Rep. Adam Kwasman, R-Oro Valley, announced on Monday he is forming an exploratory committee to run for Congress next year.

The freshman legislator cobbled together an impressive list of Republicans from across the district to serve as campaign cochairs, including Maricopa’s Rep. Steve Smith, Payson’s Rep. Brenda Barton and House Majority Leader David Gowan of Sierra Vista.

Kwasman told the Maricopa Monitor on Monday the primary focus of his campaign — no surprise given his educational back- ground in economics — would be jobs.

Kwasman’s Legislative District 11 includes Maricopa, Arizona City, part of Eloy and the far western part of Casa Grande.
