Scottsdale’s budget for the coming fiscal year includes one-time raises and bonuses for employees and a slight increase in property taxes.
The city, with general fund base revenues projected by staff to increase by more than $6 million, or about 3 percent, also will tap into savings to bankroll long-awaited maintenance projects, including new equipment at public playgrounds and pools.
The general-fund portion of the city’s 2013-14 budget is $230.8 million, covering essential city services, from parks to police.
The council chose to forgo an allowable 2 percent increase in the city’s primary property-tax levy. The levy will increase by about $170,000 as a result of new growth in the city.
