The Glendale Municipal Airport has yet to reconcile problems identified by the Federal Aviation Administration two years after the federal agency threatened to halt funding if airport administrators failed to reform its policies.
Standing between the city and a resolution are a slew of pilots challenging newly implemented policies, a field of solar panels and a loaded City Council agenda.
The FAA ruled in 2011 that Glendale was violating rules for receiving federal grant money by using the airport for non-aviation purposes.
The FAA’s concern was based partly on safety and partly because agency officials did not want grant money funding projects unrelated to flight.
