Surprise District 1 Council rivals detail goals, vision for city

Attracting more jobs, especially high-paying ones, to Surprise is a leading goal of the two candidates for City Council in District 1 this year.

But the economic theme, a common one as Surprise conducts contests for council seats in three districts, was hardly the only concern for District 1 hopefuls Roland Winters and Ted Cimino as they met in the second of the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce’s candidate forums.

The rivals fielded questions sent to the chamber’s Civic Affairs Committee in advance and by audience members during the July 17 hourlong session at Hampton Inn & Suites, 14783 W Grand Ave.
