Arizona’s four congressional Republicans railed against the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday for imposing what they called unnecessary pollution controls that threaten the future of the Navajo Generating Station and could lead to higher power and water rates.
They said it was just one example of the federal government’s disregard for the states and the Obama administration’s “imperial” overreach.
“No president in this country has been more antithetical to the foundations of this country,” said U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz. “It seems like no matter what (President Barack Obama) touches, he does exactly the wrong thing. The EPA barges into Arizona demanding we comply with an exorbitantly expensive rule now tagged at $1 billion that will do little or nothing.”
