Avondale has begun construction on a transit center project that could help the city land more bus routes and will add about 400 parking spaces to the City Center.
The $3.4 million City Center Phase 3 Transit Center project includes building two streets — 114th and Park avenues — bus stops, a parking lot and infrastructure for future development.
Eventually, the city wants to build office buildings, shops and a three- or fourlevel parking garage on the 9.7-acre site.
The Phase 3 project is part of Avondale’s unfolding City Center plan.
