Sales tax, lines of credit, Vatere properties. These and other measures were the topics of debate last Wednesday as the county government searched for ways out of its current financial crisis.
County residents brought up a wide array of problems and solutions during a public hearing last week on the proposed 90-cent property tax rate increase. Several of those proposed solutions were addressed – and shot down – during a study session with the County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday, July 31.
The discussion came as the county government faces the choice of raising tax revenue or making cuts to already barebones departments as they try to maintain public services.
