Eric Fitzer, Gila Bend’s director of planning and economic development, has announced he will take on the role of senior energy programs manager with the Governor’s Office of Energy Policy, effective Sept. 16.
He created the town’s Solar Field Overlay Zone ordinance, which has put it at the forefront of solar development in the United States. Fitzer reviewed and approved 35 megawatts of solar photovoltaic electrical generation stations and attracted more than $167 million in new investment in Gila Bend.
Fitzer has held the Gila Bend post for four years.
