Pinal County employees have not received a salary increase in more than five years, but that could change next year.
In a special meeting on Monday, the Board of Supervisors discussed options for pay increases. Some supervisors gave opinions on what they’d like to see, but no decisions were made because it was a work session item and not up for a vote.
Human Resources Director Birdie DeNero said the county could implement several options, including an across-the-board increase, pay for performance, cost of living adjustment, an award pool, a one-time lump sum or a hybrid of those options.
The last time county employees received any extra compensation was when the previous board voted 2-1 last December to give all full-time employees a one- time salary bonus of 2.5 percent, effective this year. The vote also included a one-time bonus check of $100 to all part-time employees.
Democratic Supervisor Pete Rios, the only member of the current board who served on the previous three-member board, said at the December meeting it wasn’t as much as he wanted to give, but it was something.
