Arizona Sen. Don Shooter will avoid prosecution for three misdemeanor charges after reaching a settlement with the Yuma Prosecutor’s Office.
All charges Shooter faced stemming from an incident at the EOC Charter School in Yuma on March 22 will be dismissed, so long as the Yuma Republican pays $1,500 in restitution to the school, Yuma Prosecutor Jay Cairns announced Friday afternoon. Shooter must also pay a $1,000 deferred prosecution fee to the Yuma Prosecutor’s Office.
If the senator commits a felony or misdemeanor in the next 12 months, the charges could be reinstated, Cairns announced.
