Chandler officials are once again looking for someone to transform a long-vacant lot across from City Hall into a signature project for the downtown area.
Chandler is asking developers to submit ideas for the 4-acre parcel, known as Site 6, at the northwestern corner of Arizona Avenue and Chicago Street.
“If we do Site 6 well and get the right kind of development there, it sets the stage for this downtown to go to the next level,” said Teri Killgore, Chandler’s downtown redevelopment manager. “It’s an incredibly important site for the future of downtown Chandler.”
City officials want downtown Chandler to extend south to Loop 202 and see this site as the catalyst for that movement.
The city is looking for a “signature project” that includes office, entertainment, retail, restaurant and parking space, according to documents provided to potential applicants.
