Gilbert residents have once again come forward to protest the proposed location for the town’s first behavioral-health hospital after neighborhood opposition earlier this year compelled the developer to withdraw similar plans at another site.
Kentucky-based Springstone wants to build a $14 million, 72-bed inpatient hospital near Santan Village Parkway and Boston Street on about six acres next to existing offices in the Boston Professional Village and directly north of the Val Vista Classic subdivision.
Inpatient treatment at Springstone hospitals covers general behavioral-health disorders, with the most common being anxiety and depression, officials have said. Springstone also serves patients suffering from panic attacks, hallucinations, anger or impulse-control issues, according to the website for one of its hospitals in Ohio.
The new hospital – named Saguaro Springs – would create 150 jobs with an annual payroll of $8 million, according to Springstone.
