Peoria officials are initiating an annexation of property that will facilitate housing construction.
A narrow strip of land running north to south on the 75th Avenue alignment at Pinnacle Peak Road is the target of the process, which faced a small hiccup in the City Council’s first session after its summer recess. A public hearing had been scheduled but had to be postponed.
“We discovered some notifications had not been done properly, so the hearing had to be put back,” said Chris Jacques, Peoria planning and community development director. “It (annexation) will come back.”
The action will resolve an anomaly discovered by city staff relating to a 1.17-acre parcel of land on the southwest corner of Pinnacle Peak Road and the 75th Avenue alignment. Owned by Melcor Developments Arizona, Inc., the land is a planned site for homes.
