Van Brunt not guilty of molestation charges, jury rules

A Mohave County jury found longtime Kingman resident and politician Donald Van Brunt not guilty of sexually molesting two boys years ago. The pair has since reached adulthood.

The jury spent fewer than 90 minutes deliberating four counts related to child molestation before arriving at a verdict.

According to juror Jim Moya, who spoke with the Miner after the case concluded, the jury took issue with testimony provided by certain witnesses.

“We didn’t really find a bunch of credibility with some of the witnesses,” said Moya. “The bottom line is, the state failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.”
