Vestas has landed its largest order globally in three years one of the largest so far in the United States.
Duke Energy Renewables out of Texas placed an order for 200 turbines to supply 400 megawatts of electricity for two wind projects in southern Texas, Vestas announced this morning.
The projects — Los Vientos III and Los Vientos IV — will include 200 V110-2.0 MW turbines combined that will be installed in southern Texas. Deliveries for both projects are scheduled to begin in the first half of next year with commissioning expected in 2015 and 2016, according to a news release.
It is Vestas’ largest turbine order globally since 2010. In the United States, the company h as never had a larger order in number, butin megawatts, they record a 2010 project in California as the company’s largest at 570MW, from 190 turbines. The company’s largest ever turbine order was for 866 turbines in 2000.
