Alliance calls for inquiry of APS

A solar-industry trade group has asked utility regulators to investigate Arizona Public Service Co. after the utility’s disclosure to The Arizona Republic that it is contributing to non-profit groups that support changing the credit system for solar customers.

APS officials said the informal complaint from the group was “baseless political slander.”

APS has donated to Washington, D.C.-based 60 Plus as well as Arizona-based Prosper, both of which have aired television advertisements and online campaigns supporting new rules for net metering, the credits APS gives rooftop solar customers for the excess power they send to the grid.
