Developer withdraws plan for Paradise Valley senior living facility

After facing strong opposition from Paradise Valley residents, a Scottsdale-based developer has withdrawn applications that could have allowed for large senior living facilities in the town.

Red Group LLC has alerted the town that it will no longer pursue a new land-use designation — called Continuing-Care Retirement Community, or CCRC — and a new General Plan amendment allowing for large senior-living facilities.

The applications included plans to bring a facility to a 4.34-acre parcel at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and McCormick Parkway, pending approval of the land-use designation and General Plan amendment.
