A public school program in Cave Creek has been awarded a $10,000 grant that will improve the equestrian experience for students.

The grant, awarded on behalf of the Jeane Elliot Tenk and Howard Elliot Charitable Foundation, will benefit the TRRFCC(as in “Terrific”) Horsemanship Character Program at Horseshoe Trails Elementary School.

The program has served students at Horseshoe Trails for the past five years, teaching valuable life skills through interaction with horses. The grant will provide for about half of the program’s budget, according to Principal Janiene Marlow. It will go toward providing equipment, gear and other items for the non-profit organization that caters to roughly 400 third- through sixth-graders each year.
