Maricopa’s ‘DITTO’ sign featured in Ripley’s

The Maricopa “DITTO” sign that received worldwide recognition last year on news stations and late night TV shows is gaining notice again – this time in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Dare to Look!

The 10th annual installment of bizarre facts and unbelievable stories came out in September, and Maricopa residents can see a little bit of home in the well-known publication.

Last holiday season, former Maricopa resident Kristina Green hung a giant, neon sign with the word “DITTO” and an arrow pointed toward her neighbor Eric Cyr’s elaborate Christmas light display.

Green thought it would make a fun news story, so she contacted Channel 3 news in Phoenix. Then, a reporter from the station contacted the Associated Press.

“The next day it was viral,” Green said. “(Reporters) were calling me at work from Ireland and Australia. Then when I got home, there were news crews up and down the block.”
