Rick Olson, who announced plans in July to step down as city manager this fall, was approved this week by Page City Council to serve as interim city manager from Nov. 19 through Jan. 31. Council also set an Oct. 31 deadline for accepting applications for his successor.

Council also hopes to whittle down a list of 40-some applicants to five finalists by early next month.

City Attorney Robert Wingo plans to leave Page Dec. 5 for a job as deputy city attorney for the City of Surprise. Wingo joined the city in 2007 as an assistant to former city attorney Olson, who became city manager last year.

Council voted to cut off applications for city attorney on Nov. 13, and councilmembers will be expected to supply a list of preferred finalists for the Nov. 20 council meeting.
