The Paradise Valley Planning Commission thinks the community’s General Plan is fine as it is, and doesn’t need any major amendments at this time.
Following more than an hour of public testimony Oct. 15, the citizens commission voted 7-0 to recommend the Paradise Valley Town Council deny a proposed major General Plan amendment creating a new land-use designation.
The new land use — coined Continuing Care Retirement Community — would allow senior-living facilities to be built and operated within Paradise Valley town limits.
Before the planning commission were two applications seeking both a major General Plan text and map amendments — allowing the new zoning criteria to be created — and a pending application to use the new land-use designation for a 4.34-acre parcel at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and McCormick Parkway.
